What is your favorite YES Prep memory?

One of my favorite memories at YES Prep was the spring break trip to the Grand Canyon with Mr. Clafflin’s Geology class.  The week-long trip consisted of a van ride to the Grand Canyon and back.  Along the way we had many memorable moments including climbing a massive hill under moonlight, Mr. Clafflin’s Chubaka calls and the day-long hike at the Grand Canyon. Although the trip consumed the

The Spring Trips we went on are by far my favorite memory as a student at YES Prep for a number of reasons. YES Prep Alumna: I want to start a program overseas that fights for human rights

February 11, 2011 by Tenesha Villanueva

My favorite YES Prep memory is the YES Prep Dance Company. I always enjoyed travelling to compete or hours of practicing for the big show. The dance company left a profound impact on my life. Not only did it allow me to discover a new talent I never thought I had, but it showed me the beauty of being able to express yourself in a new way. Dance was the biggest contributor to building my self-esteem in high school and it still remains a part of me. Now, I choreograph hip hop at Davidson every semester for Dance

YES Prep Southwest College Bound Stats

January 27, 2011 by Jeremy Jones

This is an AMAZING time for the Maverick Nation. We are so proud of our Class of 2011 as they are in the heart of the “waiting season”. It has been such a wonderful time as students have been receiving their decision letters back from colleges. We celebrate each and every Maverick individually. It is not the name of the college or the perceived prestige that we celebrate, but we celebrate all of their hard work, dedication, and the “blazing of new trails” for our students and their families. One new trail that has been blazed that we would like to highlight is Crystal Usoro’s acceptance to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill! She is the first student in YES Prep’s history to achieve this great honor!

We are proud of ALL of our students. Please congratulate and celebrate

The Top Blogs on YES Prep’s The Answer for 2010

December 29, 2010 by Jeremy Jones

The holiday season and the new year always bring about some reflective nostalgia that compels us to think about the best and worst from the previous 360 or so days and ponder what life will be like in the upcoming year.  There are some very definite and measurable ways that YES Prep will be changing in the next year that get this author very excited and will push me and my team to perform at levels beyond what we have ever operated.  For starters, we will officially enroll our 5,000th student.  That is halfway to our goal of serving 10,000 students in the Houston area.  Next, we will be sending 100% of our students to college from three fully grown YES Prep campuses in three very different Houston neighborhoods.  Southwest joins Southeast, our flagship campus, and North Central as a
