YPNC Teacher Says: This Place wouldn’t be the same without the great teachers here

February 03, 2011 by Jeremy Jones

For the past ten years, 100% of YES Prep's graduating seniors have been accepted to top colleges and universities across the country. The success of our students is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our teachers, a group of individuals from diverse academic and professional backgrounds united by a sense of frustration at the status quo. We believe that teachers are the single greatest factor determining student achievement. In our weekly series, the Teacher Feature, we hope to show off our greatest resource: our teachers.

I came to YES Prep for the students, but I love YES Prep because of the staff. When visitors come to campus they always comment on how wonderful the student behavior is, how much school spirit there is, and the achievement of the students. They do not get the chance to see what makes YES Prep so wonderful: the teachers and staff. Let’s be honest, the hours are long and the work is tough, but the people make it enjoyable! So yes, I love my students and I love what I teach, but YES Prep would not be the same without the other teachers. The administration is so supportive and the other teachers are energetic and compassionate about what they do. I know I am a better teacher because of all the support and feedback my coworkers give me. I could not ask for a better place to teach!
