YES Prep welcomes 22 first year TeachForAmerica Corps Members

This school year marks the fourth year that YES Prep accepts first year Teach For America corps members.  YES Prep was founded by 1992 Teach For America Houston Alum, Chris Barbic and our relationship with TeachForAmerica remains an important one, critical to our growth and success.  Teach For America is the national teacher corps that recruits and trains our nation's most promising future leaders to teach in low-income public schools across the country. 

This year's group of YES Prep Teach For America corps members are a special group.  Of the 22 corps members we placed this year:

• 7 graduated from Texas schools (Texas A&M, Rice, University of Texas and Texas Tech represented)
• Of the out of state universities represented include Stanford, Columbia, and Vanderbilt all of which we have close recruiting relationships
• 9 of our corps members will be teaching math or science
• All corps members were placed at YES Prep campus with at least one other first year corps member

All of our Teach For America corps members will participate in the Teaching Excellence Program and earn their alternative teacher certification through YES Prep this year.
