YES Prep and New Leaders Compete for Facebook Fans

YES Prep and New Leaders for New Schools have created a first of its kind partnership in education reform! YES Prep is the Houston-based public charter school network that has sent 100% of its graduating seniors to college and New Leaders for New Schools ensures student achievement by attracting and preparing outstanding leaders and supporting the performance of the urban public schools they lead at scale. Both of these organizations are leaders in educational change and produce some of this nation’s most influential educational leaders.

We are excited to announce that YES Prep and New Leaders for New Schools have teamed up in an equally ambitious and challenging competition: a contest to see who can increase their Facebook fan page membership by 100 the fastest!

The competition begins at 10am central daylight time on January 7, 2010 and will run until the first organization has increased their Facebook fan base by 100 new members!

Competition is a fun way to increase the level of attention we give to a serious problem in American education: only one in ten students from low-income communities will graduate from college seriously limiting their life choices and hindering the future prosperity and well-being of our country. Through this competition, we hope to share more information with at least 200 more people about the disparities in public education and what YES Prep and New Leaders are doing to solve this problem. Throughout this competition, we will increase the participation on each others’ Facebook Fan pages while engaging in a serious and aggressive marketing campaign to increase our respective Fan bases. In doing so, we are able to share compelling content about both YES Prep and New Leaders while engaging more people in the conversation around the possibilities in public education. We hope that by becoming a Fan of one organization, you become a fan of both! We just hope that you become a Fan of YES Prep first, so we can win! We are excited to participate in this fun competition with New Leaders and look forward to increasing our Fan bases in the process.
