Help YES Prep NC Win a SUPER PROM

Prom: If you’ve graduated from high school, it may bring back memories of jamming to your favorite song wearing a tux for the first time or a dress poufy enough to rival your wedding dress. If you’re still in high school, it’s a rite of passage that you look forward to as one of the best nights you’ll have that year.

This year, at YES Prep North Central, we are proud to have our first graduating senior class… And we are also having our very first prom!!! When you think about throwing the first prom ever at school, you get pretty pumped, and our students have. (I have too, though I keep telling myself that I’ve already had my prom.) We have come up with so many awesome ideas… but the reality has begun to set it. A prom is not anywhere in the realm of cheap. So in true YES Prep fashion we hope you help us with this opportunity in creating the BEST FIRST PROM ever.

We have entered our school in a “dream prom” contest sponsored by DELL. Our students created a video explaining why we deserve to win. If YES Prep North Central wins the contest, we will be awarded $50,000 to give our students the best prom possible. Please help our students make this contest a reality. All you need to do is follow the directions below:

1. On your computer, visit http://delllounge.com/superprom/

2. In order to vote, you need to register your email address. Once you have registered, Dell will send an email to you with your password. Passwords are usually sent to the spam box.

3. Login, and vote for YES Prep North Central’s video.

4. Vote EVERYDAY. The more votes the better.

5. Spread the message to all of your family and friends to vote each day!

We have a great opportunity to show the strength of the YES Prep family by committing to voting, as well as spreading the word to all of our families and friends. Feel free to email this information to all of your friends, family, and coworkers and help our students win an amazing first prom!

Cristina Munoz teaches high school social studies at YES Prep North Central. She is a 2007 graduate from Notre Dame University where she studied Political Science and Latin American studies. Munoz is a 2007 TeachForAmerica Houston Alumna. She taught second and third grade at Durham Elementary in Houston for two years before transitioning to teach U.S History, Government and Economics at YES Prep.
