New Initiative Supports YES Prep Alumni Parents

Over 90% of YES Prep alumni are the first in their family to attend college. With limited knowledge on how to navigate complicated college systems, academic life or the college social scene, it is often tough for parents to relate to their child’s struggles in the collegiate environment.  Couple this with the emotional stress associated with paying for college, adjusting to an “empty nest” or other issues that come along with a student’s college experience; parents have a very difficult task in supporting their child to college graduation. 

YES Prep understands the role our parents play as the “front line of defense” when it comes to supporting our alumni through college. Last semester, YES Prep’s Alumni Program launched the Alumni Parent Support Network.  The goal of the group is

YES Prep Continues Participation in Rice University’s Education Entrepreneurship Program (REEP)

YES Prep is proud to participate in Rice University's program for educational professionals known as REEP.  REEP stands for Rice Education Entrepreneurship Program.  This program is designed to give education professionals the skills necessary to navigate the ever changing, complex world of K-12 public education.  REEP focuses on leadership, strategy, business and management skills. 

REEP's goal is to train a cadre of education professionals to lead excellent schools for all children.  YES Prep is dedicated to utilizing this program to provide exemplary leadership development for emerging leaders in our system. 

REEP now offers three distinct pathways –

• MBA for School Leaders
• Business Fellowship for School Leaders 
• Rice Summer Institute for School Leaders

YES Prep Professionals: Spring Kick-Off Party

YES: Youth Engaged in Service.  YPP: 100 Professionals Serving Youth.
