About YES Prep Public Schools
YES Prep Public Schools is a free, open-enrollment public school system that exists to increase the number of low-income students who graduate from a four-year college prepared to compete in the global marketplace and give back to their communities. In 2011, the system will serve over 5,000 low-income minority students on ten Houston campuses. For eleven consecutive years, 100 percent of YES Prep’s graduating seniors have been accepted to four-year colleges even though over 90% of the students are the first in their family to pursue a college degree. YES Prep has been ranked by Newsweek and US News & World Report as a top 100 school in the nation; this past fall the organization was featured on the Oprah Winfrey show as a "groundbreaking charter school system". YES Prep is growing to serve 10,000 students in Houston and stands as a national model for what is possible in public education.
